Blow Fish Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this one layer, watercolored Blow Fish Card. :o)

To make this card I was inspired with a card I created in April 2017, Cow over the Moon Card.

For my today's card I used a super cute Kitty Bee Designs 'Blow Fish' digital image. This image is from 2013 Sea Buddies V.2 collection. :o)

For a card base I used Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

I printed the fish on the card base and left it aside for 12 hours to dry, to prevent ink smearing while coloring.

I colored everything in a watercolor technique using Distress Inks (DI). First I colored a blue background, covered the fish with paper towel pieces and splattered the background with DI Blueprint Sketch and with water. When I was satisfied with background I watercolored the fish and left my card dry for two hours. As a finishing touch, I added white highlights and dots with a white gel pen. :o)

Dimensions: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

List of supplies:
  • Kitty Bee Designs 'Blow Fish' Digital Stamp from 2013 Sea Buddies V2.
  • Canson XL Mixed Media Paper, 300 g
  • Tim Holtz's Distress Inks:

Gazpacho Soup (Fairy Tale Challenge #175)

    Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge over at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight is #175, Etwas aus deiner Küche / Something from your Kitchen. This time we want you to share with us not only paper, fabric etc. projects, we also want to see something you cooked, baked, mixed..., decorations for food, kitchen decor... So this theme is very versatile and there is a lot you can share with us. :o)

This time our lucky winner will win these cute tag dies.

For today I prepared Gazpacho Soup.

Gazpacho is a delicious cold soup, great for hot summer days, really easy to make and there is no need to cook and produce additional heat with a stove. :o)

There are various recipes on the web. Main ingredients are fresh vegetables: tomatoes, cucumber, bell peppers. The recipe I'll share with you today is our home recipe of the Gazpacho soup.

    Ingredients (2 persons):
    • 1 cucumber (mid size)
    • 3 tomatoes (mid size)
    • 1 onion (small)
    • 3 garlic cloves
    • fresh basil leaves (2-3 mid size leaves)
    • salt
    • pepper
    • olive oil (50 ml)
    • Worcester sauce (4 - 6 drops)

All ingredients I used for my Gazpacho soup are homegrown, except spices. I bought these. :o) Olive oil is homemade oil my partner's family made last season, garlic is from Hercegovina and onion from Nerteva river valley. I grew tomatoes, cucumber and basil in my balcony garden. :o)

I didn't use bell peppers in this soup because I didn't had any homegrown and I like it this way better. :o)

    How to make the soup...

    Clean, wash and chopp vegetables.

Put all veggies, basil leaves, olive oil and spices in a blender and blend them so long until you get a desirable texture.

After blending, put the soup in a refrigerator for an hour. Serve the soup as desirable, just as it is or by adding basil leaves, chopped veggies etc. I served the soup with basil leaves and crunchy salty balls. :o)

I hope you'll like the recipe and give it a try. :o) Stop by the Fairy Tale Challenge Blog and see gorgeous creations and recipes my Design Team Mates made for this challenge. Do join us, we can't wait to see projects from your kitchen. :o)

Thank you for stopping by and your kind feedback. Enjoy and smile! :o)

Virgo Blue Card (LMMS Challenge #170)

    Hi everyone! :o)

Today a new challenge starts at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. It's #170, Anything Goes Challenge.

For this challenge I made this CAS (clean and simple), Virgo Blue Card.

I made this card for Biljana, my sister-in-law, who's birthday will be this Sunday. :o)

For my card I used a beautiful LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Ximena' digital stamp.

I printed the image on a watercolor paper panel and left it aside for a while. I colored the image in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. I fussy cut the image leaving thick white border around it.

I wanted some dimension on this card, as I planed to keep it very simple. I cut a white square cardstock paper panel, stamped a sentiment VIRGO on it, glued the panel on a foam sheet square and glued it on a white square top folded card base. Then I glued foam scraps on the back of the image and glued it on the card. As a finishing touch, I embellished the card with blue sequins and covered earrings and necklace with a clear gloss resin to create glossy accents. :o)

To make the card sturdier, I glued a white cardstock paper panel inside the card. :o)

    Card dimensions: 95 mm x 95 mm (3 3/4" x 3 3/4")

    List of supplies:
    • LMM's Forgotten Scraps 'Polka Dot Pals Ximena' digital stamp

Education, Quotation Card no. #2 (CRAFT-alnica #193, August GDT)

    Hi everyone! :o)

I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest Designer at CRAFT-alnica, Slovenian challenge blog, for month of AugustTwo weeks ago I shared my first GDT project and today I'm sharing my second project as GDT at CRAFT-alnica.

The challenge for this fortnight is #193 - Okvir / Frame. Use a frame on your project, make or decorate a frame.

I love hand drawn frames, so I decided to go with a hand drawn frameAnd this is my take on the challenge: Education, Quotation Card.

This is a decoration magnet (it has a magnetic sheet on the back). I made it for myself (actually for a refrigerator, as magnets can't stick on me LOL).

To make this one, I was inspired with a Quotation Card I made last year (find it here).

I was also inspired with colors from a photo below shared on Addicted to Stamps and More blog for the challenge #255 - Photo inspiration. :o)

And a photo shared on Cupcakes Inspirations for the challenge CIC419.
    Original photo source: Potter Cakes

I quoted one of my favorite philosophers, Jiddu Krishnamurti. :o)

How I made my quotation card/magnet...

I cut a white watercolor paper panel and typed quotation on a typewriter and drew line frame with superfine permanent marker (0.4 mm).

Images are layered. I stamped pile of books from Jane's Doodles 'Read All About It' stamp set  directly on the panel and once more on a piece of watercolor paper. Then I colored books in watercolor technique using Distress Inks.

I colored a background in watercolor technique using Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch (DIBS). I added several layers of color and dried them between. When I was satisfied with the color, I splattered whole panel with water and DIBS.

After drying, I fussy cut colored books, colored edges with a black marker and glued them over stamped images on the panel. I added white highlights on books and the panel was finished.

The watercolor paper I used was thick and you could kind of see black color of the magnetic sheet through it. To solve this "problem", I cut a white cardstock base, same size as the watercolor paper, and glued colored panel on it. At the end I glued whole card on the magnetic sheet and my quotation card /magnet was finished.

    Dimensions:  88 mm x 126 mm (3 1/2" x 5")

    List of supplies:
    • Jane's Doodles 'Read All About It' Stamp Set
    • white watercolor paper
    • white cardstock paper
    • magnetic sheet
    • Ranger Archival Ink (Jet Black)
