Beehive Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotligh)

Hi everyone :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Beehive Card.

I used two beautiful Jane's Doodles stamp sets, 'Daisies' and 'Geometric Patterns', stamp set that is discontinued from Jane's store.

First I made a background. I used a hexagon stripe pattern from the 'Geometric Patterns' stamp set, stamped it with VersaMark Watermark directly on a card base and heat embossed it in white. Then I blended cardbase with Distress Inks (Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber).

When I was satisfied with the color of the background, I stamped bees from 'Daisies' stamp set on the card base and colored only their legs with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. For the rest of their bodies and wings, I had to go with paper piecing (layering).

I stamped three more bees on a watercolor paper and colored them in watercolor technique with Distress Inks (Mustard Seed and Ground Espresso). Then I fussy cut bees (cut their legs and tentacles off), colored edges with black marker and glued them over bees stamped on the card base. I covered bees's wings with clear gloss resin to create glossy accents.

A sentiment is also from 'Daisies' stamp set. I cut out circle from a black cardstock paper and heat embossed sentiment in white on it. I added 3-D foams behind the circle, placed it on the card and my card was finished. :o)
